A woman tracks down the three men who raped her, helped by an Apache.

Strange western roughie seems based on the adults-only flick THE BUSHWHACKER, but also manages to anticipate HANNIE CALDER. Michele Carey is a school teacher who's repeatedly brutalized and raped by a gang of villanious cowboys. Left for dead, she's nursed back to health by Indian brave Henry Silva. Soon enough, she's dressed in rawhide and aiming for revenge!

The low-budget film makes use of such with-it cinematic techniques as hand-held camera, zoom shots, long silences, and dreadful soundtrack music by Rupert Holmes. There's even a treacly ballad performed by the harmony group Year 2000 (think the Sandpipers performing "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls"). Carey's high-pitched voice makes her hard to take as a schoolmarm turned executioner, but Silva has some success with the role of the Indian. Since the character knows little English, his performance is primarily pantomime.

There's also a typically downbeat early 1970's climax that strives for NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD relevancy. The print viewed was on the Encore Western channel, so I don't know if the film was completely uncut or not (the same ambivalence doesn't extend to one of the cowpokes facing Michele Carey's hunting knife). It did feel odd to see topless nudity, rape, and implied castration on the Western Channel.

Totally bonkers psycho Alan (Zalman King in robust, divinely unhinged and uninhibited gonzo form) and his more mellow, but still quite lethal brother Peter (a sedately sinister Robert Porter) are a pair of odious, malefic, resolutely vile and unwholesome degenerate biker louts who gleefully torment, terrorize, manhandle, degrade and generally flat-out grossly mistreat a prissy school teacher (plucky, comely brunette Brenda Fogarty) and her bus load of four nubile strumpet teenage girl students (Susie Russell, Cathy Worthington, Jill Voight and Dina Ousley, all sublimely delectable fair maidens who are just ripe with adolescent purity and ingenuousness) in a remote area of the California desert.

That's it for the admittedly skimpy plot and frankly who cares about some fancy-schmancy story, for what this really base and repulsive vintage 70's drive-in sleaze lacks in style and substance (plenty, man), it more than compensates for with a winning abundance of ferociously foul-minded hardcore grindhouse cinema sliminess. We've got blunt direction by Earl Barton, grainy cinematography by Erwin Jay Barer, and a get-down funky syncopated score by Igo Kantor. Moreover, we also got rape, gratuitous nudity, a thrilling motorcycle chase that's followed by an equally exciting foot chase, a truly mean misogynistic bent, a few fiercely protracted murder set pieces, a marvelously vicious last reel onslaught of mass killing and destruction, and absolutely no redeeming artistic quality to ground the assorted trashy activities in any slight semblance of unwanted pretense or needless gravity.

Best of all, it's considerably enlivened and made essential viewing by the incomparable Zalman King's frenzied, overwrought, explosively insane and unrestrained scenery-gulping histrionics. With his unsightly mass of curly, unwashed greasy hair, soiled dirt-stained blue jeans, irritating wheezing, deranged cackle, nasal, slurred mumble-grumble voice, enormous wrap-around black shades, fixed, unblinking baleful stare, crazed facial expressions (King contorts his sweaty puss into a hilariously pained grimace whenever he bags somebody), scraggly five day beard, getting wackier by the minute slow burn intensity, and hysterically out of it live-wire mugging, King could pass for either David Hess' severely dysfunctional sociopathic near twin brother or a twitchy heroin addict who's in dire need of an immediate fix. An exquisitely gnarly'n'nasty nugget.

However, Jess Franco??s more indirect sequel is the most disturbing one, because "The Wicked Warden" is most realistic installment and the silly humor of the other parts is totally missing. The WIP-part of the series.

So get ready for a range of all thinkable sickness like violent torture with whips and electro shocks, snuff movies or a gruesome mass rape sequence, which brings director Jess Franco almost on the same level as a Joe D??Amato or a Bruno Mattei! The final Ilsa-munch is one of the most disgusting scenes ever, although it reminded me somehow on the showdown in William Lustig??s "Maniac" (1980)...

Not to forget its unique main actress Dyanne Thorne who is damn hot, even with over forty! Dyanne makes the whole film, ever scene is hers! God, how I love that woman! Franco??s darling Lina Romay looks pretty pale in comparison..!

Koyu Ohara, who directed hilarious nunsploitation flick "Wet and Rope" and shocking "Zoom Up:Rape Site", made also this softcore torture film. Naomi Tani and Rei Okamoto play victims of the Japanese military's World War II Inquisition division, the Kempe. Sadistic Judge Murayama (Hirokazu Inoue) captures both and brings them to his private torture chamber for some sado-sexual humiliation. "Fairy in a Cage" is a stylish S&M oriented pink with plenty of sleaze and depraved Sadean atmosphere to boost. The direction by Koyu Ohara is crisp and the acting is great. "Fairy in a Cage" was followed one year later by slightly inferior and less interesting "Rope Hell". Recommended.

For those who prefer movies that degrade women and have an overflow of rape, nudity and violence, then this movie is for you! Maria Lease plays one of 2 women who are taken captive by the Nazis. She is one of the many women that are used to "amuse" the high commanders of the Nazi Military. The buxom Lease is stripped, hung, slapped and all other forms of sexual mayhem that come with being a pretty captive of the Nazis. An enjoyable film.

Fernando Di Leo takes us for this incredible trip among juvenile delinquency. Although the movie was made in 1969, Di Leo talks about drugs, veneral diseases, prostitution, transvestism, teenagers having sex with old women, homosexuality and incest much in advance compared to what still had to come in our society.

Fernando Di Leo delivers us a very interesting movie technically superb. The interrogation of the youngsters is done in a very sharp style. The rape scene, although very impressive, is simply done with a camera movement. The suspense is well built. Pier Paolo Capponi offers us an excellent interpretation. With him we have Livia Ussaro more interested in the social aspects of the youngsters: "The police doesn't care about the kids, who they are, what they wanted to be, what they do and why they do it, if they have feelings. They are considered criminals and that's all..." But for inspector Lamberti these words will not remain unheard. To solve the case he will also have to consider these aspects.

A couple runs into a strange Marine camp where soldiers perform training exercises. The girl gets tormented, and the guy goes after them.

Very brutal and violent 1972 action flick with Alex Rocco and Jennifer Billingsley. A group of sadistic mercenaries take over a small Mexican desert town and kidnap,rape and abuse a young hitch-hiker and her new boyfriend after giving them a lift. Alex Rocco plays a menacing psycho soldier in this flick beating and torturing the girl and telling her to get down on all fours like a dog and say aloud "I'm animal!!". Gritty and exciting action/survival thriller with plenty of violence and a bit of sleaze. The cinematography is grainy and the desert setting works perfectly well. It's great to see such obscure 70's exploitation classic before highly acclaimed "The Expendables" with Sly Stallone and Dolph Lundgren.

This may not be quite as explicit or in your face as, 'House at the Edge of the Park', but it is still seriously nasty affair and most compelling. The pacing is tight and the action fast moving. 'Action', of course includes, stripping, raping and torturing the various youngsters who are in a desolate house practising a play for their catholic church school with their nun. Florinda Bolkan does very well in her role as the nun, at first stoical and gradually coming around to a more vigorous defence of herself and her girls. Ray Lovelock is excellent as the more charismatic of the baddies who intrude upon the ladies, but everybody helps to make this a most entertainingly brutal and sexy outing.

The young, pretty and shy Angela Duvall is jailed for murder in some Latin American country. In the prison she gets brutally "initiated" by the other inmates. The nice, honest and handsome prison doctor believe she's innocent and tries to help her out.

This could be another film in a potential "Latin America WIP Film Festival"--other entries might include two other Brazilian WIP films "Amazon Jail" and "Bare Behind Bars" and the Argentinean film "Correcional de Mujeres" (strange that a continent that threw so many REAL innocent people in brutal prisons in this era wouldn't have made a lot more of these films, but then maybe that was why).

Although it's mostly Brazilian, this film was actually directed by an Italian director, Michele Massimo Tarantini. Tarantini is most famous for his laughable cannibal film "Massacre in Dinosaur Valley", but his best films were probably the sex comedies he made with actresses like Gloria Guida back in Italy, as he he had little grasp on the dramatic structure. Ironically though, this one of the better Latin America WIP films because it actually has a plot (well, kind of), and a clear protagonist played by the very sexy Brazilian actress Susan Carvahlo (also in "Dinosaur Valley"). Carvahlo here plays a frequently naked and abused "new fish" who is actually genuinely innocent. As a crusading reporter/prison reformer rushes to her rescue, she and her fellow inmates stage a daring break out. The end is pretty stupid and frankly not nearly as cinematically compelling as the lesbian rape or firehose scenes in the first fifteen minutes.

Carvahlo to my knowledge only appeared in a couple international releases, but she was pretty appealing. She went on to become a successful race car diver! (And while some may she disagree, she probably looks a lot better naked than Jimmy Johnson). I actually don't know that anybody (besides me) would be stupid enough to put together a "Latin American WIP Film Festival", but, if so, this would be the top entry.

With it's contorted close-ups and twisted morals, Saturday Night Special could easily be a Roberta Findlay production, but is credited to a mysterious "Sam Bloch ". The film is a must see for fans of potent 70's cinema and porn fans who are not easy to offend.

The amount of dialogue and 'action' is more prevelant than actual onscreen sex - of which there isn't actually that much and when it arrives it is quite unsexy - one mad scene has superfiend Jamie Gillis rape a woman in an animalistic fashion that is quite disturbing. Fu for all the family.

The film shows some sadistic torture and a brief cameo by her sister taken by a documentary film crew who obviously didn't make it out. She then leaves for the jungle joined by cannibal film regular Robert Kerman (playing Mark Butler), where they meet up with the standard Cannibal tribe and a Jim Jones like cult leader. Of course escape is next to impossible with the always-hungry cannibals waiting them out and the crazy followers of the suicide cult leader ready to eat them on command.

Next to "Cannibal Holocaust" and "Make Them Die Slowly" Umberto Lenzi??s "Eaten Alive" is one of the greatest cannibal-movies ever brought on the screen! The film itself is a nice mixture between jungle-adventure and gut-wrenching horror, although the man-eaters are only a minor matter this time. Nevertheless director Umberto Lenzi has featured once more a dozen scenes of gore and brutal rape! The genre-typical animal-snuff is also not missing, however the killing has got a more documentary-character and is not as disgusting as it was in "Cannibal Holocaust". The cast: Robert Kerman and Me Me Lai seem to appear in every decent cannibal-flick, Swedish Janet Agren is marvelous and her acting isn??t as bad as often said (I even liked her better than in Fulci??s "City of the Living Dead"..!). Hollywood-star Mel Ferrer, who also had a stunning appearance in Lenzi??s "Nightmare City" is in, Paolo Senatore ("Emanuelle in America") plays the role of the lost sister, but the greatest part goes to Ivan Rassimov who??s giving a hilarious performance as perverted sect-guru! With "Mangiati Vivi" another well-made exploitation-flick was done, which is still an undisputed classic for its genre!!!

It turns out that Bradley is actually an insane mortician and that he have certain plans with his guests.

This ultra-rare 1969 sex/thriller/horror film deserves immediate re-release and high-profile exposure. Directed by Charles Romine BLD is a tale of a spooky old house, the two girls who are trapped there, and the weirdos who inhabit it. "A palace of PLEASURE or a pit of PERVERSION?" screamed the voice-over, while two women who looked like they'd failed the audition for Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! were subjected to various tortures by a psychotic middle-aged brother and sister combo.

"Behind Locked Doors" is actually a notch above most of the Something Weird titles. It does have plenty of sleaze to go around but the acting is pretty good for this type of production. The story is pretty solid as well and the production value is pretty good too. If you like films like "The Last House on the Left", "I Spit on Your Grave" or "The House on the Edge of the Park" you may like this one too.

A young and greasy incarcerated pot dealer named Harris (Robert Lott) finds out that his number is up to be moved from regular prison confines to a chain gang work camp, filled with the usual pissed-off, back-biting criminals that one finds in movies like this. Linked up with the hard-bitten Weed (Michael Stearns, who looks like the 70's version of Jeff Fahey), Harris wonders just how long he will have to endure the rigors of hard labor in the Georgia sun (which looks a whole lot like Southern California, but....). Turns out, not very long as a break is instituted by a blow to the guard's noggin, and each pair is off and hobbling (shown in quadruple split screen), though few get very far. Luckily, Harris has a plan, and after freeing themselves of their shackles, he and Weed head for his girlfriend Ann's (Linda York) house for some travel money and new wheels. After a steamy reunion (which the creepy Weed looks in on), it's up to Harris to get the pair some new clothes, leaving Ann alone with the clad-only-in-towel Weed, who has been cursed with a manly hunger due to his time in the slams, and will simply not take "no" for an answer. Upon his return, Harris (unaware of what has transpired) and the other two take it on the lam, though Harris soon realizes how completely bent his partner is, and tells Ann to high-tail it. Before long, they find themselves at the farmhouse of a creepy old geezer and his child bride (Barbara Mills), who Weed cannot help but corrupt with liquor, while the tied-up old man watches in despair as Weed's animal instincts take over yet again, leading the story to it's inevitable conclusion.

The leader of the gang indulges in violent sexual fantasies, which ultimately leads to rape and murder. This inspires a teen gang from the streets, whose members are poor kids from the ghetto.

Inspired by the Circeo onslaught, happened in the summer of 1975, where two girls were kidnapped and one of them was killed after many days of sex, violence and torture.

However, while he was serving his prison sentence, Terry developed an interest in rough, violent sex, and gory death. Now, one by one, some of the town's women pop up dead.

As sleazy and melodramatic as it all may sound, this is one of exploitation filmmaker Curtis Harrington's better flicks. John Savage(the closest thing we've ever come to another James Dean) is intense and believable every minute as the very disturbed young man, and Ann Sothern is also impressive in one of her more bizarre character parts as the boy's lonely mother who isn't all there herself. Ruth Roman plays Savage's "lousy lawyer", while Luana Anders(of DEMENTIA 13 fame) is the creepy, repressed librarian living next door who makes several unsuccessful attempts to seduce Savage. Cindy Williams, in her pre-LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY days, plays an attractive, but none-too-bright out-of-town girl who makes the dreaded mistake of renting a room in Savage and Sothern's home. It's all relatively low-key, and the finale is too dramatic for it's own good, but thankfully the movie never takes itself too seriously, and the cast, even the actors in the most minor roles, have a ball with it, making this flick a mini-classic of the early 1970's sex/murder/exploitation genre.

Scientific experiments backfire and produce horrific mutations: halfman, halffish which terrorize a small fishing village by killing the men and raping the women.

With some imagination, the best way to describe "Humanoids from the Deep" is calling it a nasty and perverted update of the "Creature from the Black Lagoon"-premise. That classic Jack Arnold featured oppressed sexual undertones while HftD is a downright outrageous and rancid flick. Not bad to see a woman directs a more or less anti-women movie?��even though Corman hired someone else to shoot extra sleaze-footage. In many ways, it also feels like you're watching an Italian horror product! The style and atmosphere of this film are so silly, the violence is so explicit and the plot rips off several other genre classics. Don't be fooled, however, because this is an authentic Roger Corman production and definitely one of the most entertaining ones he ever was involved in. The plot handles about ecologically mutated fish that attack a little fish-town during the annual salmon-festival. The creatures, which evolve amazingly fast, kill the men and rape the women.

"Humanoids from the Deep" is an unbelievably entertaining gorefest! The monster-suits are some of the most efficient ever and they look truly despicable. The gratuitous nudity is ?�� of course ?�� a very redundant element but Corman surely knows that it sells. As mentioned before, this film rips off quite a few genre hits and cleverly uses eerie ideas (and music) from "Jaws" and "Alien". The make-up effects are simply disgusting ?�� and that's a positive comment. Especially the grotesque finale, set during the yearly festival, contains some sickness every self-respecting horror fan should see. Even though the film could have used a little more humor to put it the wholesome into perspective a little, this surely is fundamental viewing for all fans of trash film-making.
